Association of British Insurers (ABI) A UK insurance trade association.
Association of Consulting Actuaries (ACA) Members of The Association of Consulting Actuaries provide services for risk, benefits, employment, insurance, demographic, mortality and investment issues.
Confederation of British Industry (CBI) One of the UK's leading independent employers' organisation.
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) The Government Department responsible for work and pensions promotes opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services – and helps people to achieve their potential through employment, to provide for their children and to work and save for secure retirement.
Financial Ombudsman The independent service for settling disputes between businesses providing financial services and their customers.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) A financial compensation scheme in the event of the failure of authorised firms. Covers insurance companies, deposit-takers and investment firms.
Financial Services Authority (FSA) Regulator of all providers of financial services in the UK.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) Includes information about the UK's customs and tax department and includes the prototype on-line VAT returns system.
Money Made Clear Set up by the Financial Services Authority to provide impartial information with no selling, no jargon, just the facts.
National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) Represents the interests of the occupational pensions movement, organises conferences and training programs for members.
Pension Protection Fund (PPF) Established to pay compensation to members of eligible defined benefit pension schemes, when there is a qualifying insolvency event in relation to the employer and where there are insufficient assets in the pension scheme to cover Pension Protection Fund levels of compensation.
Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) An independent non-profit organisation that provides free information, advice and guidance on the whole spectrum of pensions, including state, company, personal and stakeholder schemes.
Pensions Ombudsman Investigates and decides complaints and disputes about the way that pension schemes are run.
Pensions Management Institute (PMI) The professional body for those working in the field of pensions and employee benefits.
Pensions Regulator (tPR) Supervises the pension industry and employers who administer pension schemes.
The Pensions Service A part of the Department for Work and Pensions.
Raising Standards of Pensions Administration (RSPA) RSPA's objective is the advancement of knowledge and learning in respect of pensions administration, in particular through the creation and maintenance of a collection of guidance notes, case studies, tools and checklists, with the aim of improving the standard of service delivered to members of pension arrangements in the UK.
Raising Standards of Trustee Education (RSTE) The RSTE campaign seeks to source and compile information and guidelines appropriate to trustees of all UK pension schemes and make it publicly available.
Society of Pensions Consultants (SPC) The representative body for a wide range of providers of advice and services to work-based pension schemes and to their sponsors
